About Tamarack Trails
Tamarack Trails was established in 1974 by the Burkhard Development Corporation. In May 1975, the Burkhard Development team, led by Jim Burkhard, won the esteemed Orchid Award for Tamarack’s design which incorporated environmental awareness and high architectural standards. The award was presented by the Capital Community Citizens Group, a bygone Madison organization founded in 1964 to address community environmental problems.
Surrounded by mature trees and green spaces, Tamarack Trails has managed to keep that original vision for environmental awareness. Residents feel a sense of tranquility here amid the bustle of this fast-growing capital city. Over the years, many University of Wisconsin faculty, state, city and nonprofit leaders have called Tamarack home. The community boasts one of the oldest homeowners’ associations with a long history of strong community leadership, fiscal responsibility and in-house property management.
The clubhouse is host to social events, board and committee meetings, a variety of activities, and is available for private events. There are two tennis/pickleball courts that are actively used throughout the warmer seasons. In springtime, you’ll find the gardeners hard at work planting for the season in our community garden. In the summers, residents and their guests take full advantage of the heated pool and patio area to exercise, gather with neighbors, or just soak up a little sunshine. Several events for residents are held each year and may include summer concerts, community-wide picnics, volunteer activities, holiday celebrations, and maybe even a few TamTalks (lectures given by residents about a variety of topics), to name a few.
It’s easy to see why the community’s tagline is “Living the good life since 1974.”
